DIGITAL HEARING AIDS in edmonton & st. albert

Hearing aids have evolved a lot in the past 20 years! Hearing aids now are precisely engineered for various levels of hearing loss, producing better sound quality and becoming smaller and more discreet. You may not even be aware that your friends are wearing today’s hearing aids because they are designed for comfortable and almost invisible wear. At Hudson’s Bay Hearing Aid Centre, our registered hearing aid practitioners can help you find the hearing aid that works best for you.

If you’ve worn hearing aids previously and found them frustrating due to the level of background noise and feedback, come in and see – and hear – how much better our new hearing aids are. Our digital hearing aids filter out general noise in the environment and let you focus on the sounds and voices you want to hear. We can help you enjoy life to the fullest, whether you are listening for birds on a nature trail, watching a movie at the theatre or getting together with friends at a restaurant.

Hearing aids come in two types: Behind-the-Ear (BTE) models and In-the-Ear (ITE) models. BTE hearing aids are the most familiar kind of hearing aid, although you may not be familiar with the newer smaller versions now available. ITE hearing aids are custom made to mold comfortably to the shape of your ear.

Behind the ears hearing aids

BTE hearing aids can be helpful to people to a majority of people with hearing loss, ranging from mild to severe. These hearing aids have three components: the receiver, which is tucked almost invisibly behind your ear, and is connected by a thin, transparent tube or wire that transmits the sound to the part that sits in the ear canal.

This latest, most popular style of BTE is suited to many types of hearing loss is much smaller than standard models, barely noticeable. They are the most comfortable style of hearing aid because:

  • They don’t block your ear canal.
  • They can be adjusted to amplify the frequencies you have the most trouble hearing and allow you to hear other frequencies naturally.
  • They are available in rechargeable models that give you the power of other hearing aids without having to constantly change disposable batteries.

Because these hearing aids are worn in the ear without a piece behind the ear, in-the-ear hearing aids are even less visible than behind the ear hearing aids. Since they are custom made and fitted precisely to the contours of your ear, ITE hearing aids can be helpful to people with hearing loss ranging from mild to profound. There are several kinds of ITE hearing aids including:
